The Berkeley Ski Club is a non-profit, member-run organization of about 110 adult members. Our members enjoy year-round use of a club-owned lodge in Tahoe City. Traditionally a club for skiers, the BSC is broadening its focus to ALL mountain sports! The club provides its members with the camaraderie of shared interests, opportunities to take part in events in both the Bay Area and the mountains, and low-cost accommodations at Lake Tahoe.

- STEPS TO BECOMING A MEMBER
- Attend two club events (general meetings or parties).
- Visit the lodge as a guest (The club will arrange for a member to be your host during your visit to the lodge.)
- Participate in a brief interview with board members.
- Upon being approved for membership, submit an application and payments of a $90 annual membership fee plus a $200 refundable security deposit.

The BSC is a member-run organization with a member-maintained lodge. It is necessary that each member contribute their unique talents and skills in support of the club and the lodge each year. - Fees, Dues
Membership dues: $90 per year. A one time, refundable security deposit of $200. (Request for refund must be made in writing upon leaving the club.) - Work Weekends
Work Weekends are scheduled 3-4 times a year at the lodge. If a member is unable to or does not elect to participate in a work weekend, a work weekend in-lieu fee must be paid.
FREQUENTLY ASKED MEMBERSHIP QUESTIONS
IS THE CLUB ASSOCIATED WITH UC BERKELEY? ANS: No, we are a private club with no connection to the university.
WHERE ARE THE MEETINGS HELD?: Monthly general meetings are held between October and March at a convenient location in the East Bay. (See the Calendar for more details.)
MAY I JOIN ANY TIME DURING THE YEAR? ANS: Yes, but this can occur only if there is no waiting list. When the club has reached its maximum size of 110 members and there are several candidate members on the list, then the candidates will usually have to wait until the membership renewal deadline of November 15. A certain percentage of members each year do not renew by this deadline, and thus club openings will most often occur on this date. DO YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN THE EAST BAY TO JOIN? ANS: No but we do give preference in the waiting list to East Bay residents because living nearby promotes greater participation in club events and governance.
IS THERE A FAMILY RATE? ANS: No, because the membership dues per person and lodge nightly rate are among the lowest among Bay Area ski clubs.
CAN MY CHILDREN BE MEMBERS? ANS: Club membership is restricted to adults 21 or older. Children age 5 and older may use the lodge Sunday through Thursday night during the ski season when accompanied by a member. See the Lodge page for more details on when children may visit.
