How to Join Berkeley Ski Club: Questions and Answers

Do you have to live in the East Bay to join?

Preference will be given to new members who live in or near the East Bay, and in no case will membership be granted to applicants who live more than 50 miles from Berkeley (calculated on Google maps from Berkeley City Hall, 2180 Milvia Street, Berkeley, CA 94704). We expect members to participate fully in club meetings and activities, and be available to accept Board positions.

Is the Club associated with UC Berkeley?

No, we are a private club.

Where are the meetings held?

Monthly general meetings are held between October and March in or near Berkeley. The recruiter should send you each newsletter by email, which states the location. (See the Calendar for more details.)

May I join the Club at any time of the year?

Generally, only just after the Membership Renewal deadline of November 15. The Club has long had a maximum of 110 members. As our members retire or become inactive each year, we select that many inactive members returning to active status and new members from our wait list of those candidates who have completed the steps to become a member. You can email the Club recruiter for wait list status and other membership questions.

Is there a family rate?

No. Membership dues per person and lodge nightly rate are among the lowest of Bay Area ski clubs.

Can my children stay at the Lodge?

Children policy is described in Sec. III.B of the Membership Guide . This is what it says: On Fridays, Saturdays, holidays and the night preceding holidays during the high season (Nov. 16 - April 14), the lodge is reserved for adults 18 and over. Children from 5 to 17 may stay at the lodge at other all other times. Children under 5 are not allowed at the lodge. Parents are responsible for the behavior of their children.
